A protest interrupts the Road Cycling World Championships in Scotland

MADRID, 6 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

A group of protesters has interrupted the development of the Road Cycling World Cup, in the men’s category, which is being held this Sunday in Scotland, as confirmed by police sources and the International Cycling Union (UCI).

The race was stopped with 190 kilometers to go (out of a total of 271 kilometers) when protesters, still unidentified, glued themselves to the road around the Carron Valley, between Edinburgh and Glasgow. .

Police Scotland has confirmed that it “takes note of a protest in the Carron Valley area” and that the officers “are right now talking to the protesters,” according to the Scottish newspaper ‘The Herald’.

“In addition to the confirmation by Police Scotland of a protest in the Carron Valley area, which has temporarily interrupted the men’s road race,” adds the UCI on its X account, formerly Twitter, “we are working closely collaboration with all relevant authorities to minimize disruption to the race and also to ensure the safety of the cyclists as our main concern.”
