A league of 36 teams is the latest proposal for the European Super League, according to SER

The European Super League continues to be designed and, according to the SER, the major European clubs have just received a document with the latest competition sketch that managers manage. The traditional group stage would become a 36-team league in which there would be no impediment for the strongest clubs to meet. Each of the participants would play a total of ten games. Now, in that first phase of the Champions League they have the right to six. The maximum continental competition, if this project prospers, would happen according to this document that is still merely informative and to be discussed, it would have 4 more teams than the current Champions League.

Of course, to participate in the competition there would be no changes. The way to qualify would be the same as it is handled now, by positions in their respective leagues, correcting the quotas by countries. The most striking thing would be the way to configure the calendar. The teams would be divided into four pots. Each team would play a game against a rival from the first pot; two games against the teams of the second; three against those of the third and, finally, four against teams of the fourth. There would be no back and forth. The league would lead to a qualification, the top 16 would advance to the knockout round of the knockout stages to fight for the title.
