A goal from Stoichkov gives Sabadell the first win

A great goal from Stoichkov at the start of the second half was worth the first victory for Sabadell in his return to Second A against Leganés who forgave excessively in the first half and ended up paying it.

The first half was a monologue by Leganés. Up to three shots to the post were enjoyed by the locals. First in a kick from outside the Santos area; later, in a header from Luis Perea to the crossbar at the exit of the corner and to complete the trident of posts, Borja Bastón headed. All this in an interval of 20 minutes – from 15 to 35 – and those were not the only options since they had up to seven in this first half.

Such was the cucumber domain that local coach Antonio Hidalgo moved the bench after half an hour, with captain Ángel entering through the central card Juan Ibiza.

The Sabadell reply in the first half in attack was a shot from 40 meters by Stoichkov that did not surprise Pichu Cuéllar and another by Urdabarrena that came close to the post.

The second part was another history. Sabadell was much better in the field and Edgar's entry for Guruzeta was key. A shot from Victor was the prelude to 1-0. A triangulation between Urdabarrena with an extension of Edgar's heels finished him off at the Stoichkov net in the 52nd minute. Of course, the goal was suspended after the exaggerated four-minute revision in the VAR until it was appreciated that Palencia was further behind. Thus ended the streak of 572 minutes without scoring a goal.

Referee Trujillo Suárez repeated prominence, this time, due to an injury that caused another stoppage and his replacement by the fourth official Busquets Ferrer. No one was surprised that the game lasted until the 101st minute. Despite so much prolongation, the local defense tied up all the cucumber attempts to celebrate the 1-0.
