A gesture of class: Arsenal save Derby County

Arsenal are receiving praise from across England for the generous gesture they have made to Derby County. The 'Gunners' have reached an agreement with the Championship team to postpone the payment of a debt for one year. The 'rams' are in bankruptcy and their delicate economic situation made it impossible for them to face this payment, which would have led them to seizure. However, Arsenal, as reported by Telegraph, has decided not to execute this charge and leave it for next year.

The origin of the debt dates back to 2019, when Derby County signed Krystian Bieli from Arsenal for a figure that was around 12 million euros. At that time, the 'rams' only paid a small amount, agreeing to pay off the bulk of the debt in installments. One of those payments, of just over a million and a half euros, should have been paid last month. However, the East Midlands team entered bankruptcy on that same date as well, thus experiencing dire financial straits. Faced with the difficulties of Derby County, Arsenal have tried to help him by not collecting that outstanding amount this year.

This “class gesture”, as they call it in England, It allows Derby County to buy time to troubleshoot and find a buyer.
