A City-Liverpool reopens the Premier with Arsenal in the countdown

MADRID, 31 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Premier returns this Saturday in style with a Manchester City-Liverpool as the first course after the national team break, with Pep Guardiola’s men with no margin for error in the title fight with Arsenal, who will then play against Leeds.

The English League faces the final stretch with the ‘gunner’ team at 69 points to City’s 61, although with one more game the leader. The defending champion advanced in the FA Cup two weeks ago, so he has a game pending, and will return to domestic competition after his last game on March 11.

Liverpool visit the Etihad Stadium after losing in the League Cup against the sky-blue but with a 1-0 win at Anfield in Premier. The Clásico of recent years catches the ‘red’ team after their elimination in the ‘Champions’ against Real Madrid and sixth in the table, seven points behind the ‘Top 4’ although with two fewer games.

For their part, Guardiola’s men have recovered cruising speed although the race does not seem to admit much failure, with those from Manchester still involved in the Champions League and a category crossover in the quarterfinals against Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Arsenal has nothing else in mind other than winning the Premier. Since Arsene Wenger’s ‘invincibles’, the London team has not won the league. The wait can stay at 19 years if Mikel Arteta’s team maintains its high pace, its memory game and the special form of Saka, as well as Trossard and Odegaard.

Those of the Emirates receive Leeds in the next turn of the City, with which they will know if they have more or less urgency, in search of the seventh victory in a row. Those of Javi Gracia, a Spanish coach who arrived at Elland Road a month ago, seek to move away from the relegation zone.

In addition, Manchester United and Tottenham have the mission of defending the Champions League area. The ‘red devil’ team forgot their latest setbacks in the Premier with the Europa League and the FA Cup, but on Sunday they will have a crucial duel against Newcastle, fifth.

Meanwhile, the ‘Spurs’ return from the break without Antonio Conte, the Italian coach who was dismissed after his critical and controversial press conference on March 18. The Londoners will close the day on Monday at Everton’s stadium, out of the ‘Top 4’ if United do not defend the ground against Eddie Howe’s men.

Chelsea, Real Madrid’s rival in the Champions League quarterfinals, will receive Unai Emery’s Aston Villa on Saturday, one of the best forms in England to find out if they can aspire to improve the tenth position they occupy.
