3-1: Chivas defeats Mazatlán and goes to the semifinal in the Cup for Mexico

The Chivas of Guadalajara defeated Mazaltán 3-1 on Saturday, the result of which they got their pass to the final phase of the Cup for Mexico, a friendly tournament of Mexican soccer prior to the 2020 Opening.

For Chivas, Jesús Angulo and José Juan Macías scored twice, while Venezuelan Fernando Aristeguieta scored the first goal in the history of Mazatlán.

In the 3rd minute, a bad start by goalkeeper Miguel Fraga on a corner kick left Gilberto Sepúlveda free, but his header went wide off the right post.

Mazatlán had its first danger at 12, when Cándido Ramírez focused on César Huerta, who shot over the crossbar.

At 21, Isaác Brizuela focused on Alexis Vega, who controlled the ball with his right leg so that Angulo shot on goal and made it 1-0.

Vega, at 32, took a powerful shot from medium distance that Fraga rejected with two hands.

The first part ended with Guadalajara walking the ball across the field, before the null attack by Mazatlán.

Guadalajara started the second half with a move by Brizuela on the right wing that ended with a cross to Macías so that he headed to the first post and scored 2-0.

Macías stole a defensive pass and entered the area at 58 after removing the mark, but his shot was left in the hands of Uruguayan Sebastián Sosa.

Mazatlán returned to the game at 69 with a shot from outside Ramírez's area, however, Raúl Gudiño easily stopped the ball.

Mazatlán achieved the first goal in its history at 83 when the Venezuelan Aristeguieta volleyed a cross from the right wing to leave the duel 3-1.

Guadalajara reached six points in the classification and got their pass to the semifinals that will be played next Wednesday and Thursday. Mazatlán closed its participation with only one unit added in three duels.

The actions of Group A will end this Sunday, when the Atlas faces the Tigers, in a duel that will define the leader of the group.
