3-0: Ukraine thrashed Armenia

Ukraine continues to find a way out of the war in football and this Saturday achieved its second victory against Armenia in two UEFA Nations League games. The group coached by Joaquín Caparrós held out for an hour, but ended up succumbing 3-0 to a superior team that managed to leave behind the painful elimination from the World Cup against Wales.

The first half had little history: Ukraine timidly tried but ran into a very well organized defensively Armenia. It wasn’t until minute 61′ that the first goal of the match came. Malinovskyi, who was being the most incisive player for the Ukrainians, took advantage of a pass from the death of Karavaev to put his team ahead. The goal against sent Joaquín Caparrós’ team like a jug of cold water, who, unable to react, conceded the second in minute 77′. The author of the assist in the first, Karavaev, dressed as a scorer on this occasion and scored with a crossed left-footed shot. The game was seen for sentencing. A sentence that would come in 84′ when Mykolenko took advantage of a double error by Monroy: first in a control that escaped him near his area and then in the pourwhich ran into Mykolenko’s leg and ended up inside the goal.

The victory serves Ukraine to continue counting its matches for victories in this edition of the Nations League and consolidate itself in first place with 6 points. For its part, Armenia remains with three points having played one game more than the Ukrainian team.
