21st century cracks: Tenas, 'killer' at the goalkeepers' house

Marc Tenas (Vic, Barcelona, 2001) is the ‘different’ of his family. He shares privileged genes that generation after generation transmit the ability to play soccer. Although, in his case, he has decided to stop the trend: prefers to score goals rather than avoid them, something that makes him the 'weirdest' at home.

Marc's grandfather was a goalkeeper (he played for Sant Andreu and Gramanet) and also his father (for Espanyol). But the family tradition goes further. He has a twin brother, Arnau, who is … goalkeeper! And it's not just any goalkeeper. He is the most promising of the Barcelona youth academy, they compare him to Ter Stegen and he was champion of Europe Under-19 with Spain last summer despite being a year younger than the rest.

With all those ingredients, Marc decided to be a striker at the goalkeepers' house. And so far nothing is wrong. His career began linked to that of his twin brother. The two entered the Barcelona youth academy in the 2010-11 season, coming from the Vic Riuprimer. However, while Arnau ascended, Marc only stayed a year.

It was in the 2016-17 season, being a Cadet, when he excelled at Cornellà and Atlético de Madrid noticed him. In the summer of 2017 he signed for the rojiblancos, in a fairly media incorporation because It was, together with Alberto Soto, the first quarry reinforcement after the FIFA sanction on the Atletico club.

His adaptation to Atlético has been excellent, being one of the benchmarks of the first Juvenil. Those good performances and his scoring nose have allowed him to gain a foothold in Spain as well, where he has scored five goals in 14 games between the U-18, U-19 and U-20. Santi Denia is counting on him for the U19 who will defend the title this year and there will coincide with Arnau. The two twin brothers, together in La Rojita. One scoring goals and the other avoiding them …
