A petition asking the NBA to modify its historic logo to turn it into the silhouette of the legend Kobe Bryant, who died Sunday in a helicopter accident, has collected more than Tuesday night 2.6 million signatures.
In little more than 48 hours, the petition is not far from reaching its goal of 3 million signatories. Several celebrities have joined the idea, including rappers Snoop Dogg Y Usher, the pop star Justin Bieber.
“When he started this petition, he was just a 16-year-old boy who had just lost a model and a hero. He used this means to deal with this death he cried. My initial goal was to obtain only 100 signatures,” he wrote. Nick Moghtader, from Vancouver, on the home page.
Since 1969, the NBA logo has featured the same famous white silhouette, inspired by Jerry west, another legend of the Lakers. When he left the track to be a coach, it was he who bet on Bryant, who was 17 years old.
Kobe Bryant, 41, his daughter Gianna 13 and seven others died Sunday morning in a helicopter crash northwest of Los Angeles. A tragedy that continues to shake the world of sport.
