1×1 from Spain: Unai, Morata and Luis Enrique, from zero to infinity

This was the performance of the national team players against Croatia:

Unai Simon: His game was marked by his failure to control the safety pass that Pedri gave him in the 20th minute and got into his goal. From there, with the support of the Spaniards who were in the stands, he tried to demonstrate his mental strength and the good conditions that have led him to be the starting goalkeeper of the National Team and made several worthwhile saves in the second half and in the extension.

Azpilicueta: He entered the attack judiciously and knew how to suffer in defensive transitions when the Croats tried to mount quick attacks. He scored 2-1 ending a play that he himself started, in a waste of courage and chaste.

Eric Garcia: He showed defensive talent and was aggressive in duels and pushed the team to defend forward. He was replaced in the 71st minute by Pau Torres.

Laporte: Always successful at the start of the game, both in short and mid-range orientation changes. Definitely, he performs better playing left center because in the minutes he was right center, two goals from Croatia came.

Gayà: Maximum concentration, he fought each ball to the maximum. He rounded the goal with his surprise arrivals in the area. He had to be replaced due to physical problems in the 78th minute by Jordi Alba.

Busquets: He did not play as comfortable as against Slovakia, but he maintained the level so that Spain dominated the rival and tried to impose his football of possession and position, something he did in many phases of the game. He gave everything and suffered in the final stretch of the game. He was replaced in the first half of overtime by Rodri.

Koke: He continued in his line of good performance. Each party increases its hierarchy. He missed the goal and had one of those chances that he does not usually fail in the 11th minute. That poor definition did not condition him in his high school football that he unites with a maximum delivery. He left his place to Fabian in the 78th minute.

Pedri: He feels untouchable and is growing in his game. For the first time in the championship he leaked a goal ball, the one that put Koke on the occasion in the 11th minute. In the second goal, he made an excellent driving, dividing and opening the band so that Ferran put the center to Azpilicueta . Luis Enrique gave him the whole game again.

Ferran: It started very fast. He wanted to score before the ball reached him. Luis Enrique saw that the best thing was to change the wing and from the left gave the goal pass to Azpilicueta. When he returned to the right, after the departure of Olmo, he made the 3-1 that seemed to close the game after a long shot from Pau that he controlled and defined as the great scorers.

Morata: He evaporated all the ghosts with a goal that began to fasten the pass to the quarterfinals. He had a very deviant header that a forward of his category must put in. Luis Enrique gave him confidence and in overtime he returned it: 4-3. A goal that will come in handy for the striker.

Sarabia: He had threatened entering from the left, but when, midway through the first half, Luis Enrique put him on the right, he exploited all his potential with a changed leg. Goals fall for him and thanks to his goal the draw came. Sarabia has taken over the owner site. Dani Olmo came out for him in the 71st minute.

Substitutions

Pau Torres: He replaced Eric Garcia in the 71st minute. He occupied the position of left central, passing Laporte to right central. He appears in the photo of the two Croatian goals, together with Laporte.

Dani Olmo: Entered at minute 71 by Pablo Sarabia. He put him on the left wing and Ferran went back to the right. He missed his substitution. Whenever the ball reached him, he tried. And in overtime he was one of the most prominent. He deserved the goal and crashed the ball in the goal in the 119th minute.

Jordi Alba He came out for Gayà in minute 78. He tried to put his experience at the service of the team, but could not prevent, like the rest of his teammates, that Croatia managed to equal a 1-3 and take the game to extra time, in which he pushed and led his peers.

Fabian: He entered for Koke in the 78th minute to give air to the center of the field, but he did not succeed because in those minutes, Croatia passed over Spain and managed to tie at three. In overtime it went from less to more.

Oyarzabal: He started in the 87th minute for Ferran. He tried to arrive, but he did not have much participation nor could he avoid the extension, in which he did see the door to make the 3-5

Rodri: Came out for Busquets in the 101st minute, taking advantage of the additional change that is allowed in extra time. He tried to bring balance and order to the team. And he got it

Selector

Luis Enrique: He surprised again with the line-up, entering Gayà and removing Gerard Moreno. Good decision in the 25th minute when I changed sides to Sarabia and Ferran. From the right, the PSG forward monopolized the attack. Controversial decisions in the changes for not removing Marcos Llorente and Gerard Moreno for a minute, but the result proved him right. Croatia's draw was not expected and they again had a high in extra time.
