BARCELONA, 13 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud, current number 3 in the ATP ranking, will participate in the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell-Trofeo Conde de Godó, which will be held at the RCTB-1899 from April 15 to 23, and joins Carlos Alcaraz and Rafa Nadal as ‘Top 10’ tennis players present at the Barcelona tournament.
“The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – Conde de Godó Trophy is configuring a luxury edition to celebrate its 70th anniversary and adds the participation of Casper Ruud, number 4 in the ATP ranking,” the organization announced.
The Norwegian is, at the age of 24, one of the outstanding players on the professional circuit. Last year he won three titles (ATP 250 Gstaad, Buenos Aires and Geneva) in seven finals, including Roland Garros, US Open, Nitto ATP Finals and Masters 1,000 Miami.
Ruud has played twice for Barcelona. In his debut, in 2017, he made his debut in the preliminary phase at just 18 years old and managed to qualify to play the main draw, losing in the second round against the local Albert Ramos (6-7 and 4-6).
In his second participation, last year, he fell in the quarterfinals against Pablo Carreño (6-4, 6-7 and 3-6), who later reached the final, which he lost to Carlos Alcaraz.
