Sergio: “If we win in Vitoria we have options to stay”

The coach of Cádiz, Sergio González, spoke to the media prior to the match against Alavés, the last bullet left for the cadistas to be able to opt for remaining in the First Division.

Balance of the last week of training. “Complicated week, difficult week. The start was difficult because we were a bit sunk. We have to accept that we don’t depend on ourselves and we will try to find the best possible scenario by doing our homework well. We have to focus on doing things well against a rival That will make things difficult for us.”

Continue in the highest category, the goal. “I think that the performance of the team in the second round has been very good, I think that the points do not certify the football that the team has shown on the field. The reception from the fans is First Class, the team has played to be in First Division. I think that out of merit we should stay in LaLiga Santander as long as we win on Sunday. If we win in Vitoria I am convinced that we have many options to stay.”

Everything that surrounds the final in Vitoria on Sunday. “The game is not just 90 minutes, it’s before and after as well. Anything that adds up is welcome. Anything off the pitch is just a decoration, but it can help you add up. All the teams want to win. Every game is difficult to win in LaLiga Santander.”

The match against Alaves. “We have to plan a game by isolating ourselves from the situation. We have to be realistic, but face 90 minutes of football in which we have to win. Go out concentrated, compete, win individual duels. Let it be a game where we are better than the rival, that we get ahead on the scoreboard and consolidate ourselves. Up front we are going to have a strong Alavés with a coach who has arrived recently, who will want to add at home and leave a good feeling in front of his home. We have to show that we are playing life. We have to be a recognizable Cádiz that goes for victory”.

The light at the end of the tunnel. “On Monday we were devastated, on Tuesday we rested at home, on Wednesday we had more vitality and we are already recovered. Since Thursday we have been seeing the light that we now see. If we win we will have done what has been in our hands and the sport will not give the award you’ve won. Everything happens to get our victory, that’s what has to be in our heads. If we win in Vitoria, we can’t be reproached for much”.
