Rodríguez Uribes describes the results achieved in the Swimming World Cup as “stratospheric”

MADRID, 21 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, described the results achieved at the Doha Swimming World Cup as “stratospheric”, with the achievement of ten medals distributed in five modalities (water polo, open water, swimming pool, diving and artistic), while the president of the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation (RFEN), Fernando Carpena, asked to “continue with that line.”

“It has been a 'great step', not a 'little step'. This is stratospheric and in an act like this it is first to thank you on behalf of the Government and the citizens of this country. We have to take care of you, that is the great work that 'Team Spain' does. We have invested almost 50 million euros in sports and in aquatics about 5 million in scholarships,” highlighted the president of the CSD in tribute to the results achieved in the event.

Present at the event were the world champion Hugo González de Oliveira; the bronze medalists in synchronized 3 meter springboard, Adrián Abadía and Nicolás García Boissier and the president of the Spanish Swimming Federation (RFEN), Fernando Carpena Pérez.

Hugo González, gold and silver medalist, assured that they are “proud” of this reception. “Simply take the opportunity to thank all the athletes for helping us continue like this and leaving us at the top. We are proud to be here and this is one more 'little step', since we have been working hard to get here. We will continue seeking to leave our federation to the top in the Olympic Games,” he said.

On the other hand, the president of the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation, Fernando Carpena Pérez, considered that “it is an honor” to be in the CSD and “also a source of pride after 18 days of competition.” “There is always talk about swimming, but I try to talk about water sports because Adrián and Nico also accompany us with their historic bronze medal. These results in Doha have been historic,” he remarked.

“It is fair to recognize that the preparation of the teams is based on 'Team Spain', which helps us ensure that our technicians have the best means. We have to continue in that line and we have challenges, and also high-quality athletes and in any case, the only thing I ask is that they arrive correctly on the appointed day to achieve the objectives,” he admitted.
