MADRID, 18 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
One in five athletes in Spain chooses running and travels almost 8 kilometers per session, according to the '2023: analysis' report, showing the trends in physical activity and sleep' promoted by the sports technology brand for training, Polar health and well-being.
Walking is the second most recorded activity (16%) on the Polar Flow training platform worldwide, with running being the first. This trend is also true in Spain, thus confirming the commitment to moderate physical activity as a way to stay active and ensure your general well-being.
On average, users travel 4.4 kilometers per session in 65 minutes, a good pace and an adequate amount to obtain benefits from walking. These figures coincide with a study published by the 'British Journal of Sports Medicine', in which researchers discovered that a speed of approximately 4.3 kilometers per hour was needed to walk briskly.
“Embracing the vitality of moderate-intensity physical activity is not just a step toward a healthier body, but a giant leap toward happier lives. Anyone seeking an active lifestyle will find motivation and personalized guidance in Polar watches and through of our smart training features, such as the Walking Test and the Running Performance Test, designed to suit all fitness levels,” said Dr Raija Laukkanen from the Polar Research Centre.
Awareness of the relationship between physical activity and quality sleep has caused people to pay more and more attention to their rest. Wearing watches at night to gain information about health and well-being is becoming more common.
The report reveals that Polar users manage to get the recommended amount of sleep, waking up at 7:02 a.m. and going to bed at 11:32 p.m. In Spain, these times are delayed at 7:31 a.m. and 0:15 a.m., with an average of 7:16 hours of average sleep duration.
Adequate sleep duration contributes to a positive score of 73 out of 100. In addition to duration, Polar's sleep score analyzes key sleep metrics and considers other critical components, such as interruptions, continuity, and stages of restorative sleep.
In 2023, running remains the most popular activity. According to this year's data, running has accounted for 19.22 percent of all training sessions recorded by Polar users. On average, they have traveled 7.8 kilometers per session, with the age group between 50 and 59 years old being the ones who have traveled the most distance: 8.2 kilometers. The average marathon distance time in 2023 has been 4:10 hours.
User data presented within the Polar Flow ecosystem across multiple Polar devices and in more than 20 markets is anonymous and comes from research conducted by the Polar Research Center. The research includes a total sample of 3 million users. The results have been extracted during the period of December 2022 and November 2023.
