Betis and Real Sociedad officially announced the transfer of Willian José to the Verdiblanco club. The 30-year-old Brazilian striker thus definitively leaves the Txuri-Urdin club and signs at Benito Villamarín for four seasons, until 2026. The operation is just over 9 million euros.
The movement it was already agreed between the clubs since the beginning of last season, when Willian José arrived at Betis initially on loan for one season. Due to salary limit issues, a compulsory purchase could not be stipulated, but it was verbally agreed. Finally, Betis acquires the player as property.
Willian José leaves Real after scoring as blue and white 62 goals in 170 games. 20 goals in 17-18 (15 in LaLiga and 5 in Europa League), 11 in LaLiga 18-19, as many in 19-20 and 6 in 20-21. At Betis he started very well this last season, with several goals in his first appearances, but then he didn’t keep up that pace. He has added 11 goals in 44 appearances as a Verdiblanco, in addition to five assists.
