MADRID, 17 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish tennis player Roberto Carballés said goodbye in his debut at the ATP 250 category tournament in Munich (Germany) and played on clay, after losing in the first round this Monday against the American Marcos Giron (6-1, 5-7 , 6-2).
The man from Tenerife, number 53 in the world and who was proclaimed champion in Marrakech at the beginning of the month, had to row against the current after winning only one serve in a first set that his opponent won by prevailing in the last five games.
Already in the second round, he went ahead 4-1 and, despite the fact that he wasted two set points in the ninth game and allowed Giron to return the ‘break’, he got a new break in the last game to balance the contest.
Carballés gave up in the final set, after the North American materialized two of the eight break chances he had up his sleeve to close the duel in just over two hours of play.
