Badosa runs over Ferro in his debut in Paris

MADRID, 24 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa has advanced on the fast track to the second round of Roland Garros, the second ‘Grand Slam’ of the season, after debuting this Tuesday with a solid victory in two sets at the Philippe Chatrier against the French Fiona Ferro (6 -2, 6-0).

In her debut on the Parisian clay court, where in 2021 she reached the quarterfinals, the Catalan used only 54 minutes to defeat the local tennis player, before whom she did not give up a single chance of ‘break’ and whom she overwhelmed with an 89 % of points won with your first serve.

Thus, the fourth racket in the world began the contest with a break in the opening game in his second attempt, and broke his rival’s serve again in the fifth to put on track a sleeve that would end up being awarded in just over half an hour.

Already in the second set, Badosa put one more gear to endorse a ‘donut’ in 21 minutes to his opponent and meet in the next round of the French ‘great’ against the winner of the duel between the Russian Oksana Selekhmeteva and the Slovenian Kaja Juvan.

Meanwhile, Pedro Martínez said goodbye after suffering a comeback from Swiss Henri Laaksonen (2-6, 6-4, 6-4, 7-6(1)). After an exchange of breaks at the start, the Valencian, number 43 in the world, managed to win the first set after winning the last four games.

A solitary break of the Helvetian in the fifth game balanced the contest, which began to opt for his side after signing two new breaks in the third set and taking the final fourth set in the ‘tie-break’.
