Zverev is erased from the Berlin tournament, where Kyrgios will not be able to go

The Bett1Aces exhibition tournament to be held in Berlin from 13 to 15 and from 17 to 19 July will be held this year without the participation of Alexander Zverev, Nick Kyrgios -who cannot travel due to restrictions related to the coronavirus- and Caroline Garcia.

Zverev, who is currently number 7 in the world ranking, did not provide a specific reason for his withdrawal from the tournament., which takes place in the Steffi Graf Stadium and in the hangar facilities of the old Tempelhof airport.

“They informed us that he would not compete in any tournament right now and that is why he will not come to Berlin,” Bett1Aces organizer Edwin Weindorfer said, according to a statement.

“We are very disappointed, because we thought it would have been a good opportunity for Alexander Zverev to focus in tennis in front of the public after some turbulent days, “added Weindorfer.

As for the Australian Nick Kyrgios will not be able to go to Berlin due to the strict regulations that affect travel from Australia, given that the situation related to the covid-19 pandemic has worsened in that country in recent days.

“There is little time left but we will do everything possible to present last-minute solutions”, Weindorfer pointed out about it.

In the female category, Frenchwoman Caroline García had to withdraw at the last minute due to a foot injury.

Latvian Anastasija Sevastova to replace her, who has won four tournaments on the WTA Tour circuit and who in 2018 was ranked number 11 in the world ranking.
