The Spanish Sara Sorribes shot epic to survive in the WTA 1,000 in Miami, saved two match points against the American Bernarda Pera and qualified for the second round, in which the American Jennifer Brady, thirteenth favorite, will be measured.
Sara Sorribes won 6-2, 2-6 and 7-5 after two hours and 46 minutes after coming back from a 5-1 defeat in the third set, in which she was one step away from elimination on two occasions.
Sara, who in 2021 already beat the American in the Abu Dhabi tournament in the only time that both had met, was overwhelmed by the forceful reaction of Pera, who won the second set and approached the victory with a notable advantage in the final (3-0 and 5-1), but could not close the match.
Sara Sorribes, who this year inaugurated her record with the victory in Guadalajara (Mexico) and also shone in Monterrey, where she reached the semifinals, and in Abu Dhabi, beaten in the quarterfinals, she kept the type, she did not give up and scored six games in a row that in the end gave her the victory.
