MADRID, 23 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Madrid town of Villanueva del Pardillo will host the L’Etape Madrid by Tour de France Presented by Lapierre cycle tour for the second consecutive year on July 23, in its two versions of 112 and 162 kilometers, as announced by the organizers on Thursday in its presentation official.

The event was attended by the mayor Villanueva del Pardillo, Eduardo Fernández Navarro; the CEO of the organizing company RPM Sports, Jesús García; Lapierre’s Marketing Manager, Muriel Bouhet; the delegate of Aedas Homes, Raimundo Giménez; and the director of L’Etape, Andrés Novo.

The march will start and finish in Villanueva del Pardillo, something that Eduardo Fernández Navarro, mayor of the municipality, has valued. “The presence of L’Etape Madrid in Villanueva del Pardillo is a source of pride for us and is part of the commitment to sustainable sport that we carry out in our municipality. We would lose a great opportunity if we did not do so, with the natural environment so wonderful that we surrounds,” he said.

The CEO of RPM Sports, Jesús García, wanted to underline the “incomparable setting” that Villanueva del Pardillo offers for the practice of cycling. “To talk about the towns of Guadarrama is to talk about the history of cycling. How many iconic images of the most relevant cyclists in the world have been given here. We cannot think of a route that better connects with the values of L’Etape Madrid”, he explained .

The march will take place on July 3, coinciding with the weekend in which the Tour de France will start in Copenhagen. The options are 162 kilometers or 112, four ports or three.

The L’Etape brand has almost 30 years of experience and a series of twinned events around the world. The closest is Granada, which will take place on October 23, but there are also events organized in France, the United Kingdom, North and South America, Asia and Australia.

SOLIDARITY BICYCLE

The own followers and participants in the test chose the official bicycle of L’Etape Madrid by Tour de France Presented by Lapierre, the Lapierre Aircode DRS special edition L’Étape Spain.

The bicycle will be raffled among all those who participate in a solidarity action that has the collaboration of the International Red Cross. The draw will be made among all the people who make a minimum donation of 5 euros through the L’Etape Spain website.

For every 5 euros donated, a participation code will be obtained in the raffle for the bicycle, which will be delivered on October 23 at L’Etape Granada by Tour de France Presented by Lapierre.

Muriel Bouhet, Brand Marketing Manager at Lapierre, welcomed the draw initiative and the possibility of collaborating with a charitable cause. “In the more than 75 years that Lapierre has been around, we have always wanted to be much more than a bicycle brand. We want excellence in our products, but we also want to give back to the community, cyclist and non-cyclist, part of what it gives us” , he underlined.

All the money raised will be donated entirely to the International Red Cross, in support of the humanitarian cause deployed by the NGO in Ukraine.

FAMILY RIDE

Although participation in the cycling tour is limited to people over 18 years of age, the youngest can also be part of the L’Etape universe through the ‘Family Ride’ by AEDAS Homes initiative.

This activity is aimed at fathers, mothers and children who want to travel together a 4.3-kilometre stretch of the official race route. On Saturday, July 2, one day before the celebration of L’Etape Madrid by Tour de France Presented by Lapierre, a group of boys and girls, together with their parents, will be able to ride a bike and share the adventure that the older ones will live on Sunday.

“For us it is a pride to be able to help children to enter the world of bicycles”, said Raimundo Giménez, delegate of AEDAS Homes. “One of our founding values is sustainability in everything we do and we believe that this can also be achieved through the promotion of cleaner forms of mobility, especially among the smallest”, he added.
