Villamarín will be one of the first stadiums with 5G in Spain

The stadium Benito Villamarin is being equipped with 5G technology thanks to the long-term agreement reached by the club verdiblanco with Cellnex, one of the main independent operators of wireless telecommunications infrastructure broadcasting in Europe, which will make the green-and-white stadium one of the first in Spain in which it will be possible to deploy coverage 5G multi-operator and all the advantages that this entails.

The Real Betis agreement with Cellnex includes not only the current innovative installation but also the successive digital updates that are taking place at this time so that Benito Villamarín is always at the forefront of stadiums in technological applications, reports Abc. Other venues such as San Siro (Milan) or the Etihad Stadium (London) already have a similar infrastructure.

The implementation of this technological advance will allow the development of applications that will make Benito Villamarín a multi-connected space and will avoid the collapse of the wireless telephone networks suffered by spectators and the residents of the neighborhood on many match days. Among others is the option that the fan can order and purchase from their seat in the stadium drinks and food from the catering services, which will be served directly in their locality. Videos of the meeting and doubtful plays, as well as replays of the VAR, can also be viewed on mobile phones, without saturating the networks, as often happens at points where many people gather.

The club will take advantage of this complete interactivity with the fan to activate promotions, for example in the official store, and it will also help them so that the transfer of seats can remain active until minutes before the game, when the service used to collapse when trying to make the arrangements at the last minute around the stadium.
