Varane suffers a cervical blow and is doubt for San Mamés

French central defender Raphael Varane had to leave the field in the 31st minute of the match between Real Madrid and Getafe at the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium after receiving a shot in the lower right part of the face, in an aerial dispute with Etxeita.

The French defender, who was performing at a high level behind, with Sergio Ramos, his regular partner next door, tried to compose himself during the break for hydration after half an hour of meeting, but he did not feel well and went to the locker room leaving the feeling of being stunned.

In place of Varane was the Brazilian Éder Militao, who returned to have participation with the team after the 30 minutes played in the victories against Eibar (3-1) and against Real Sociedad (1-2).

Cervical injury

The French central defender Raphael Varane suffers a cervical blow, after a strong impact that he received in the face in the first part of the match against Getafe, which forced him to ask for the change and go home, being a doubt for the game that Real Madrid plays on Sunday in San Mamés.

“Right now it is not right because it is a cervical blow”, Zinedine Zidane unveiled at a press conference. “He is home and the doctor has gone to see him. We will see how it is tomorrow, but we are not going to risk it. It has been hit hard and tomorrow we will see what it has, “he added.

Varane was, until the match against Getafe, the only Real Madrid field player who had played every minute of the competition since the return of football.
