Valverde says goodbye to cycling in Lombardy on October 8

MADRID, 26 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Former world champion Alejandro Valverde (Movistar Team) will contest his last professional race on October 8 in Lombardy (Italy), after a race in which he won the rainbow jersey in 2018, the 2009 Vuelta a España and, among other triumphs, 17 stage victories among the three ‘greats’.

According to the Movistar Team, Alejandro Valverde will ride his last tests as a professional cyclist in Italy for the next 2 weeks, where he is scheduled to participate in the Coppa Agostoni on Thursday, September 29; the Giro de Emilia, on October 1; the Three Valleys of Vares, on 4; and Il Lombardia, on October 8.

For these last tests as a professional, Valverde will have at his side a “top level” team, stressed the telephone team, in which the presence of another of the team leaders of Eusebio Unzué’s team, Enric Mas, is expected.
