Valladolid delves into Getafe's wound

Getafe started the new year as the previous one ended, with bad feelings, and lost 1-0 at the Coliseum against Valladolid, which has surpassed it in the standings and has come out of the relegation zone. José Bordalás's team, two points from the well, is still immersed in a crisis that has already lasted for two and a half months, since it has been without winning since October 17, 2020. A single victory in the last eleven days reflects the deficiencies of the azulones, especially in their attacking zone, since it is the second team in the category that has scored the fewest goals (12).

Valladolid, who had their second win, did not miss the absences of two of their most important players, Fabián Orellana and Marcos André, who due to their respective physical problems caused a loss. Paradoxically, Getafe did not see their performance improved with the presence of Damián Suárez, Cabaco, Nyom and Arambarri, who returned to the starting eleven after not playing the last match against Atlético.

During the first half, Getafe wanted but couldn't. If ideas, and only with some sporadic action by Cucurella, he became entangled in the web that Valladolid wove, very orderly with his ‘1-4-1-4-1’, and that gave no choice to his rival. There were hardly any dangerous occasions during this period, but the first one that Sergio González's team had took advantage of. He did it in the 37th minute, when Kike Pérez crossed from the left wing, Cabaco failed to clear and the ball reached the Israeli Weissman, who did not forgive Yáñez.

With 0-1, and after squandering Cucurella and Nyom two good options to tie, it was halftime.

After passing through the changing rooms, José Bordalás introduced an offensive change (Portillo for Nyom), but the variation did not translate into greater fluidity in the local game. What's more, it was Valladolid that had the chance to put the victory on track, first with a point-blank shot from Jota after a center from Kike Pérez that was cleared 'in extremis' by Yáñez, and later with a header from Toni Villa that was was narrowly diverted.

Getafe kept trying more with his heart than with his head (only Timor was in danger with two free kicks), so he continued crashing against Valladolid that at no time remained in the cave and looked for a second goal that would guarantee him the victory. He did not do it but in the end the Weissman did good and managed to take the three points of the Coliseum against a Getafe that is in free fall.
