MADRID, 26 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

LaLiga and Electronic Arts have announced that the sixth season of eLaLiga Santander will begin with the dispute of the first title of the season, the SuperCup, which will be held on January 28 and will face Alavés, Valladolid, Celta and Zaragoza.

For the director of Digital Strategy of LaLiga, Alfredo Bermejo, this new year is one of the “most special” for the eLaLiga. “With a more than consolidated track record and always hand in hand with the best possible partner, EA, eLaLiga returns to continue growing with innovations in terms of the competition format and also with new face-to-face destinations to be closer to the fans,” he added.

The EA Sports FIFA Esports Commissioner, Sam Turkbas, declared himself “delighted” to welcome the eLaLiga Santander back to the EA SPORTS FIFA Global Series this season. “eLaLiga Santander embodies the best of Spanish football and esports, with incredible competition that increases community participation at all levels,” he said.

For its start, eLaLiga launches a campaign that presents the peculiar story of a fan of the competition who, learning from the best, manages to rise up as the new rival to beat. We will be able to see how Capdevila, Morientes and DjMaRiiO, among others, live it firsthand.

THE BIG STOPS

Several of the 38 LaLiga Santander and LaLiga Smartbank clubs that will be part of the competition this season chose their representatives from among the best ranked players during the ‘drafts’ stage, the online tournaments that were played in November, thus ending up forming your templates.

The participating clubs of LaLiga Santander and LaLiga Smartbank will be divided into two groups that will compete one day a week each in face-to-face format. A will compete on Tuesdays and B on Wednesdays, in a 1-on-1 format. All the matches can be followed live from 6:00 p.m. through the official competition channels on Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, LaLigaSportsTV, and as a novelty this year also through DAZN.

The eLaLiga Santander Cup will be played in a Spanish city that the competition has not yet visited, and will be played for the first time in a 2-on-2 format. Two players from each club will compete as a team to face the rival club, which will change the dynamics of the tournaments of the competition to date.

In May, as usual, the Grand Final will arrive, in which the 16 best-ranked clubs to date will compete in an in-person show like no other to date. The Grand Final will also host numerous activities for the public, such as amateur tournaments, meet and greets and challenges at sponsor stands. The chosen location will be revealed shortly, and it will be a surprise for LaLiga and eLaLiga Santander fans.

This season will be played exclusively on PlayStation 5, and in total more than 300,000 euros will be distributed throughout the season, and the top four finishers will gain access to the next phases of the EA SPORTS FIFA Global Series 23, Playoffs and Play-Ins.
