After several months of strict confinement and with the hotel industry closed since November, France begins to see the light at the end of the tunnel in a de-escalation that directly affects football. The government of Emmanuel Macron today announced a series of measures in several phases in which he has ensured that the public will return to the stadiums from May 19.
The Executive has announced a decision package in which the de-escalation has been divided into four phases. The first, scheduled for May 3, does not change the current situation, but the one to be implemented as of May 19 is an important advance. On that date, Ligue 1 stadiums will be able to hold up to 800 spectators indoors and 1,000 outdoors.
For its part, the acceleration of the measures will come from June 5, a date set by the Macron Executive so that the stadiums can have up to 5,000 spectators. Amateur football, stopped since the month of November, will also be able to return to its activities as normal with the aim that on June 30 France is normalized against the coronavirus.
