The Magi bring coal to Celta and Getafe

Second round of the Copa del Rey and two ‘Firsts’ have already said goodbye almost to the first exchange. Two Second B, the Unión Deportiva Ibiza and Córdoba CF, left Celta and Getafe by the wayside, who offered their worst version at Can Mises and El Arcángel.

Surprising was what happened in Ibiza, not only because of the defeat, but because of what ended up reflecting the score, a 5-2. Celta, as Eduardo Coudet feared, took a long time to adapt to the synthetic turf, a circumstance that the local team took advantage of to get the tie back on track, scoring three goals before reaching half an hour.

Celta's 'unit B' was the victim of an Ibiza that justified its good moment in the league championship, in which it is the leader undefeated. Only the entry into the second half of Brais Méndez, Denis Suárez and Santi Mina improved the performance of the celestial ones somewhat, but they did not even manage to make up the score at the end.

Getafe also gave the sand, which in El Arcángel confirmed its serious game crisis and results. For Córdoba, it was enough to play in order against an opponent who was unable to react to Willy Ledesma's early goal. After the break, José Bordalás tried to turn the match upside down by putting Djené, Cucurella, Portillo, Arambarri and Jaime Mata on the field, but not even for those did he succeed and the azulones said goodbye to the tournament.

Better luck had Sevilla, which advanced round after beating Linares Deportivo (0-2) in a match that resolved in psychological moments, with a goal at the end of the first half in a free kick masterfully thrown by Óscar Rodríguez and another in the beginning of the second period marked by Fran Lara in own goal. The visitors relaxed in the final stretch and goalkeeper Bono had to intervene several times to avoid any hint of a local comeback.

Villarreal, for its part, driven by its youngsters, gave Zamora no option, who stood up at times but had to surrender to the good work of the squad from Castellón. Unai Emery started with Capoue, a newcomer from Watford, who accused his lack of coupling and barely came into play in a duel in which Yeremi, Baena and Chukwueze stood out and in which the local Ramos signed with a strong kick from more of meters the goal of the day copera.

Finally, Valladolid, whose match started fifteen minutes late (a member of the coaching staff tested positive for Covid-19, which made players have to undergo rapid tests that were negative), suffered against Marbella, at who only surpassed in extra time (2-3) thanks to a goal from Óscar Plano.
