“The game will be played on a new date as close as possible”

“The s
uspensión is produced by the special circumstances derived from the snowstorm that affects the country and especially the Community of Madrid. The match will be played on a new date as close as possible to be set by said Competition body based on the evolution of circumstances ”.

These are the reasons at the official level why the Competition Judge of the Spanish Football Federation has decided to suspend the match between Atlético de Madrid and Athletic this afternoon. LaLiga, as reflected in this letter, requested the suspension of the aforementioned match “due to the exceptional circumstances and force majeure derived from the snowstorm that is affecting part of the Spanish geography, especially in the Community of Madrid, where the airport has even been closed today, a circumstance that makes it impossible for the visiting team to travel”.

The Competition judge, “given the exceptional circumstances and force majeure applicable to the specific case”, finally opts for “suspend the celebration of the First Division match between Club Atlético de Madrid, SAD, and Athletic Club, which will be played on a new date as close as possible in time to be determined by this body based on the evolution of the storm and always, of course, that the circumstances that allow it occur ”. Said notification is communicated, according to the RFEF note, to both clubs, the RFEF Competitions Area, the National Professional Football League and the Technical Committee of Referees for the appropriate purposes. “This resolution -concludes the note- exhausts the federal route.”
