The father of Patrick Mahomes was arrested in Texas upon suspicion of DUI.
Online jail records show that Patrick Mahomes’s father was arrested in Tyler, Texas, on Saturday night on suspicion in driving while drunk. Patrick Mahomes is the star quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs.
It has been charged that Patrick Mahomes Sr., 54, drove while drunk for the third time or more, and his bond has been set at $10,000. He got out of the Smith County Jail on Sunday afternoon.
State law says that if he is found guilty of this third-degree felony, he could spend a maximum of ten years in prison.
Because he was arrested so close to Super Bowl LVIII, his son will not be able to play for the San Francisco 49ers.
Mahomes Sr. admitted to being guilty of a DWI in Texas in 2018 as well as was given a 40-day jail sentence, which he served on the weekends.
He was a pitcher in the major leagues and played for six different teams for 11 years, from 1992 to 2003.
He played 308 games (63 starts) with the Twins, the Red Sox, the Mets, the Rangers, the Cubs, and the Pirates and went 42–39 with a 5.47 ERA. He played in the 1999 NL games for the Mets.
