The Dutch Dakar Straver rider, in critical condition after a fall

The Dutch Dakar driver Edwin Straver is in critical condition after suffering a fall this Thursday in the eleventh stage, admitted to a hospital in Riyadh.

According to De Telegraaf and in the absence of official confirmation from the Dakar, Straver, 48, is very serious after a fatal fall when he was traveling at 50 kilometers per hour. The KTM, in its third Dakar, competes in the Original by Motul motorcycle mode.

Because of the fall against the dunes at the stage that covered Shubaytah and Haradh, the pilot broke one of the cervical vertebrae and had to be resuscitated. The Dutchman was transferred to a hospital, where he is feared for his life in an edition already tragic for the death last Sunday of the Portuguese Paulo Gonçalves.
