MADRID, 25 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The men’s doubles team of Pablo Serrano and Manuel García Rosendo, in the SU5 category of parabadminton, has made history by rising to number four in the world rankings after winning bronze at the Indonesia Parabadminton International.
In a historic achievement for Spanish parabadminton, the pair formed by the Asturian from CB Astures and the Galician from CB Athlos achieved the highest position to date. “It means a lot to us, it is a reminder that all the hours invested in training, national team training camps and participation in the national and international circuits are allowing us to develop our best game and take Spanish parabadminton to the highest possible level,” said the Asturian.
“We are continuing to work to play even better and to try to fight for a medal in the next World Championships,” he added in statements provided by the Spanish Badminton Federation.
“Being fourth in the world is a source of pride, it means that things are being done well and it is due to all the hours of training, the training camps and the support we receive from the Federation as well as from family and friends, always with messages of encouragement,” said Rosendo.
“Our goal is to keep working and keep improving, and hopefully win more medals and, why not, get a good result in the World Championship. And in the longer term, hopefully our SU5 category will become a Paralympic event and we can get to the Paralympic Games,” he added, looking to the future.
In addition, Iván Segura shone in the same tournament by winning the gold medal in the men’s doubles event in the SH6 category and the bronze in the individual event in this same category, thus consolidating the excellent moment of Spanish parabadminton.
