The City Council of La Coruña has requested that the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, give a statement as an investigated in the cause that is instructed in the Galician city on the displacement of Fuenlabrada last July with positive cases of COVID-19 in the squad to face the LaLiga SmartBank match with Depor.
The local government confirmed on social media that it has asked Tebas to testify before the judge that it took up the case in recent weeks once the Provincial Court considered that it did not have to withdraw from the investigation due to its status as a subscriber to Deportivo.
According to La Voz de Galicia, the legal advice of the City Council requested the imputation of Tebas, the president of Fuenlabrada, Jonathan Praena, and the doctor of the Madrid club Juan Manuel Blanco.
The Coruña City Council understands that the police report reflects the involvement of the three in hiding positives from the health authorities since the first case of COVID-19 was detected in the squad until it was communicated a few hours before the match of the last day of LaLiga SmartBank, when Fuenlabrada was already in La Coruña.
The Madrid team registered an outbreak of COVID-19 and that forced to suspend the meeting with Deportivo, which fell due to the results that occurred on that day which had to have been held on a unified schedule.
