The Best Sports Games You’ve Never Played!

The Best Sports Games You’ve Never Played!

With a global pandemic going on most sports teams have sadly canceled their seasons. Without even the option of playing sports, to maintain proper social distancing, you may be wishing for something to scratch that sports itch. Luckily there are video game alternatives that can be played a good two meters away from another human being.

Finding which one to play if you don’t know anything about the gaming industry can certainly be a challenge. Luckily you don’t need to look any further than this list. Most lists give you the most popular games for almost every popular sport. But those are boring. These are the greatest sports games you’ve never heard of. Take it from somebody who plays an absurd variety of video games, from AAA games like the Halo series and Dishonored to the most obscure like Super Blue Boy Planet or Grande Vegas Online Casino USA.

Lego Football Mania

Lego Football Mania. Released in June 2002 Football Mania (Known as Soccer Mania outside of Europe) is certainly an older title. But that doesn’t mean it lacks any of that nostalgic charm. Six players on each side must bop the ball into the goal. Featuring no fouls, kick-ins, or really any of the ‘complicated’ rules for soccer it might make you wonder why it’s on this list. But once you’ve seen the power-ups, force fields, jetpacks, water cannons, and more that randomly spawn on the map for you to grab the entire game gets flipped on its head. It also includes a full story mode, multiplayer co-op, and various training modes which double as minigames.

What the Golf?

A golf game for people who don’t like golf. A game filled with shenanigans and random goals and challenges. Why get a hole in one when you can get a house in one. As in launching a house. At a hole. In one shot. It is a weird game. But definitely worth checking out!

Golf with Friends should really also be mentioned. While What the Golf is an amazing game (really! go check it out) if you want a more regular golf experience Golf with Friends just can’t not be mentioned. Toeing a nice line between normal golf and mini-golf Golf with Friends is great for jumping into and playing anytime (preferably with friends!)

OutRun

There are a few games I feel like could be thrown into this category. If you want an arcade racing classic then I highly recommend OutRun. Even though the name suggests running I assure you this is a racing game. It’s definitely rough around the edges but that’s to be expected from such an old game. You can find it free online so there’s really no reason not to give it a look.

Sonic All-Stars Racing Transform

Next for casual racing games, nothing beats Mario Kart. It knows exactly what it’s doing and how to do it. But for those of you that don’t own a Nintendo console (be that a Wii, Wii U, Switch, etc) you can’t play this amazing game. That’s where Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed comes in. It’s Mario Kart but with Sonic. Did I also mention that it’s for PC? More people have those then Switches. You can get this game on steam right now.

Ultimate Fishing Simulator

Is fishing a sport? Yes. If you believe otherwise you would be wrong. Luckily you don’t actually have to leave your house to fish. That’s where the beauty of Ultimate Fishing Simulator comes from. Guaranteed to get a bite in moments you’ll never be bored. You can fish from the land, a canoe, a dock, or even a yacht. The fishing opportunities are endless! Featuring a live radio you can listen to you’ll never get bored. You’ll learn real fishing tips too (and you’ll need them if you want to go after the bigger fish of the lake).
