Susaeta follows Beñat's scoring trail in Australia

To Markel Susaeta and Beñat do not seem to be doing badly in their experience in Australian football. The former Athletic captain will go down in the history of Macarthur, his new club, for having been the first to score a goal in his stadium. The Biscayan midfielder, for his part, initialed a day before the premiere of this newly founded entity, but away from home.

The two ex-rojiblancos were headlines against Wellington Phoenix. Beñat, as used to happen in Lezama, acted as an assistant in this match and Susaeta, attentive and accurate, picked up the ball and nailed it flat next to one of the goalposts of the rival goal. The clash ended with a 1-1 draw.

This, in any case, is not Susaeta's first goal in the Australian league. The Eibartarra, after leaving Athletic at the end of the 2018-19 season and signing for the Japanese Gamba Osaka, chose to sign at the beginning of last year for Melbourne. There he made his debut as a scorer in the aforementioned championship, although he could not finish his contract due to the coronavirus pandemic.
