Spain will face Sweden and Britain in the men’s and women’s pre-Olympic

MADRID, Jan. 21 (SportsFinding) –

The Spanish men's and women's table tennis teams will face Sweden and Great Britain, respectively, in the semifinals of the World Team Pre-Olympic, which will be held from January 22 to 26 in Gondomar (Portugal).

In the women's team, Spain will face Great Britain in its debut in this competition; It will be the first qualifier against this team, which joins for Olympic events.

The Spanish female coach, Silvia Erdelji, said her team is “prepared” for the duel. “The draw is fine; it could have been a little better, but also much worse. Our team is ready and against Great Britain we will have the chance to win and fight for the ticket to the Olympic Games against Austria or the Czech Republic,” he said.

For its part, the men's team, with Carlos Franco as reinforcement, will face Sweden in their first duel in this championship. Víctor Sánchez's pupils will seek to reissue the victory achieved in Huelva in 2018, where Spain had the same players as in this tournament.

“The team is very excited to get the ticket to Tokyo. The standings are only two wins and that gives you a plus of optimism and enthusiasm. If our three players manage to play at their best level, we have options to surprise”, said coach Victor Sanchez.

“The draw has not gone very well, because we have touched the third series, who have a good doubles and have the number 1 in Europe, Mattias Falck,” he concluded.
