Spain approaches the women’s European volleyball

MADRID, 27 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women’s volleyball team won (3-1) against Latvia this Saturday on the third day of the qualifying phase for the European 2023, a full of victories halfway through a correct path towards the continental tournament.

The ‘Leonas’ added a third victory in their time at the Palacio de Deportes de Avilés (Asturias) to lead Group E with nine points and three more games to play. Pascual Saurín’s team controlled the game with intensity, without lowering their performance, with good work on serves and blocks and points from Lucía Varela, the match’s top scorer (17 points).

Spain will now face two important duels away from home (Latvia, on September 4, and Slovakia, second with 6 points, on September 7) to close the double objective of sealing the ticket to the European Championship and doing so by being first in the group. On the 11th, the ‘Lionesses’ of volleyball will close this Pre-European Championship against Denmark.

Saurín’s women did well in the last important victory against the Slovaks with a 25-17, 25-15, 22-25, 25-20, a strong entrance on the scene that smoothed out the match, with a lot of punch and pressure on serve. Latvia minimized errors and held on to their options, with a fourth quarter that once again required serious play from the ‘Lionesses’.
