Sheffield steps on European positions after winning West Ham by the minimum

MADRID, 10 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Sheffield United has placed in the fifth position of the Premier League after winning West Ham United thanks to a single goal by Oliver McBurnie (1-0) at 53 minutes of the game that opened the 22nd day in the English championship.

The team led by Chris Wilder, who confirmed his renewal until 2024 hours before the game, won after taking advantage of an error by West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, who handed the ball to a rival by mistake. John Fleck picked up the gift and assisted his companion McBurnie to mark it with pleasure.

David Moyes 'hammers' spurred on the goal and were close to a draw in a Lanzini shot ten minutes from the end. They even scored a goal in Snodgrass boots, but the VAR overturned the action by helping with the arm to control before launch.

The second consecutive win allows Sheffield to place in Europa League positions – ahead of Manchester United and Tottenham – waiting for the rest of the day to be completed. The West Ham, meanwhile, remains sixteenth with two points of advantage over the relegation points.
