Serious Piqué injury: sprain and ligament affected

Gerard Piqué It was the first that the initial diagnosis of the Barcelona doctors was not very clear that it was only a severe sprain in his right knee. “I have noticed a crack”, the player continued insisting, while he could barely support the right hand, with obvious symptoms of pain. However, doctor Lluis Til insisted that there were no affected ligaments and that it was a grade three sprain. The withdrawal period would be about two months. With this information, Piqué went to bed. Without having them all with him because the pain was very strong and the knee was very unstable.

Sunday's tests proved Piqué right. It wasn't just a grade three sprain to the medial lateral ligament Rather, the injury, as was initially feared, went much further: the ultrasound clearly demonstrated that had an affected anterior lateral cruciate ligament, so the recovery time could be lengthened by a few more months.

For now, the club does not report that the player has to undergo surgery to solve this injury, although we will have to wait for the evolution of the player's knee to make a final decision in this regard.

The medical statement only specifies that the player will be “low” and that his evolution will mark the availability, but today it seems very clear that we are talking about a time of no less than three months to return to the pitch, as long as you don't have to go under the knife.
