Sergio Rico will defend Mallorca’s goal until the end of the season

MADRID, 21 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Spanish goalkeeper Sergio Rico will play on loan at RCD Mallorca until the end of this season, coming from Paris Saint-Germain, with the intention of enjoying the playing time at the Visit Mallorca Estadi that he did not have with the Parisian team .

“RCD Mallorca and PSG have reached an agreement for the loan of the player Sergio Rico until the end of the season. The player has already signed his new contract and has been placed under the command of coach Luis García Plaza,” announced Mallorca.

Sergio Rico was trained in the Sevilla FC youth academy and made his debut in the first team in 2014 at the age of 21, being key in winning two consecutive Europa League titles.

After four seasons as Sevilla’s starting goalkeeper, in the summer of 2018 he went on loan to Fulham in the English Premier League and in the 2019-20 season he played on loan at PSG in Ligue 1, who signed him after that loan.

“I thank the club for trusting me to face this stage in the club until the end of the season. Everyone has welcomed me wonderfully and I want to start helping the team and that we achieve that common goal that is salvation”, Rico stated.

The goalkeeper defined himself as a “sober” goalkeeper who gives the team peace of mind in defense. “I hope I can help as much as possible, that we take firmness in the back and score points, which is the most important thing,” he argued.

At 28, Sergio Rico has experience with 40 matches in European competitions, more than 150 in the top flight in Spain, England and France, and has made his debut with the senior Spanish team.
