Second time the 'Gordo' touches Jesús Muñoz

Jorge Almirón's positive for Covid has caused his second coach, Jesús Muñoz, to be in charge of directing Elche this Wednesday against Real Madrid. Few technicians have in their record having directed two games against Real Madrid as assistant coach. One of them is, precisely, Jesús Muñoz. And, despite never having held the position of head coach in the Spanish first division, Almirón's right-hand man already knows what it is like to lead a team in the league against Real Madrid. The first time was in 2013, being Paco Jémez's second at Rayo.

Seven years later, Jesús Muñoz will once again lead a team against Real Madrid. His 'debut' against the whites took place on February 17, 2013. Paco Jémez could not sit on the bench at the Bernabéu because he had been sanctioned with two games for his expulsion the previous day against Atlético. The technician from Mota del Cuervo (Cuenca) was the one who took such responsibility. On the opposite bench was Mourinho. The victory fell to the Whites 2-0, with goals from Ramos and Morata.

Jesús Muñoz arrived at Elche this season after last season he acted as Hercules coach and later arrived at Almería as Guti's assistant. Previously, he was second coach at Rayo, Zaragoza and Almería and managed Changchun Yatai, from the Chinese Super League.
