Sainz: “In Austin we shouldn’t be as competitive as in Turkey”

The Spanish Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz, said that this weekend in the United States Grand Prix they should not be as competitive as they were in Turkey, with a great comeback to finish eighth, and assured that Austin is one of his circuits “favorites” of the entire season.

“It is surely one of my favorite Grand Prix, not only do I enjoy the race, but also the essence of being here (…) I am prepared for one of the best GP of the season and with one of the most modern circuits”, indicated the Madrid pilot.

“It will be similar, but in Austin we should not be as competitive as in Turkey, and fighting to get back to where we should be. It will be a tough fight with McLaren again, I think it will be close on the track, I hope we can be close to them, “Sainz said at a press conference.

The Ferrari driver, who occupies sixth place in the general classification, knows that Austin is a circuit whose design “has hit the mark with the shape of the curves, the balance between high and low speed, the overtaking zones …” and commented that the potholes “will not be a bother” to be able to fight for a good result.

On other issues, Sainz stressed that thanks to Netflix to more Formula 1 fans in the United States and confirmed that he did not give anything to his partner Charles Leclerc for his birthday. “I gave him a hug, I didn’t really give him anything, I forgot. It was in the middle of a free weekend, those days I disconnected from my mobile. I apologized to him,” he concluded.
