Real Madrid-Inter: a great rivalry for 57 years

The Madrid of comebacks

In the 1984-85 and 1985-86 seasons, Real Madrid won two UEFA Cups which, in the face of their rivals in the finals (Videoton and Cologne), didn't seem like much; but the road to the title was strewn with obstacles and in both cases Inter appeared in the semifinals. It was in these crosses, among others, that the Madrid of the comebacks took shape, where Juanito's spirit was born. In 1985, after falling 2-0 at San Siro, Madrid turned the situation around the capital of Spain (3-0); in 1986, the defeat in Italy was 3-1, and at the Bernabéu the return went to extra time, where Santillana rose with two goals (one, the one in this image) for a final 5-1.
