Portugal rules out the return of fans to stadiums this season

The Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa, affirmed today that it is “evident” that this season the fans will not return to the stadiums football due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“It is clear that before next season surely there will be no fans in the stadiums. It is a resolved question “Costa explained at a press conference in which he detailed how the country will continue its lack of refinement.

The decision follows the line adopted for the Moto GP Grand Prix, at the Portimão circuit (south), which takes place this weekend and the next Formula 1 Grand Prix, in the same place, in a fortnight.

The rotundity of Costa collides with the wishes of the president of the Portuguese League, Pedro Proença, who was confident that at least in May the fans could return to the Portuguese stadiums.

The country, with around 10 million inhabitants, Since the beginning of the pandemic, it has registered 16,933 deaths and 829,358 infected.

Next Monday Portugal will begin the third and penultimate phase of its de-escalation, which provides for shopping centers, cinemas, and which restaurants serve inside.
