Pelé returns to the hospital to continue his chemotherapy treatment

MADRID, 8 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Brazilian legend Edson Arantes do Nascimento ‘Pelé’ has returned to the hospital this Wednesday to continue with the treatment of a colon tumor that was operated on two months ago, according to the Albert Einstein Hospital, where he remains admitted.

Pele, 81, is “stable” and his readmission to the hospital is due to chemotherapy treatment. As indicated from the hospital in Sao Paulo, the former Brazilian player will return home this Friday.

Pelé was operated on for a colon tumor last September after it was discovered during a routine examination. The former Santos star is the only player to have won three World Cups in 1958, 1962 and 1970.

The former Brazilian player is also one of four mythicals to score in four different World Cups, while still being Brazil’s all-time top scorer, having scored 77 times in 92 appearances for the ‘verdeamarelha’.
