Oblak is gigantic

Atlético lost to Sevilla and the rojiblanco team could not offer a good level in the Pizjuán. There were some players who did perform and Oblak was one of them. The Atlético goalkeeper stopped a penalty almost as soon as the match started and continues with his good streak in penalty kicks, since Joselu was already stopped by one at Atlético-Alavés the previous day. Oblak has already saved six penalties in LaLiga with the rojiblanco team and stands two of Leo Franco, the rojiblanco goalkeeper who has stopped the most maximum penalties.

Oblak is performing at a good level in these last games and it is one of the reasons why Atlético have hopes for the title fight in this final stretch of the season. Atlético continues to be the team with the fewest goals in the tournament, with 19 goals, although Sevilla have two more goals than the rojiblanco team, 21. Oblak aspires to his fifth Zamora trophy, something that they just have got Ramallets and Valdés.

But above individual trophies, the Athletic Look for the league title. Oblak played a good game against Sevilla and could not do anything in Acuña's goal, practically from point blank range. Simeone has insisted to his players that the key to be able to opt for the championship is to show a great defensive level. And Oblak is part importante in that framework. With a contract until June 30, 2023, the goalkeeper still has a great market value, 90 million according to Transfermarkt.

Atlético also knows that there are players who have to take a step forward in these games. Footballers like Savic or Oblak himself have assumed the role of important players in the dressing room and that is also an added value to the Slovenian goalkeeper. On Sunday, against Betis, Oblak will have confrone quality strikers and for getting the three points seems almost essential to keep a clean sheet.
