Determine the motive for getting rid of this habit. How will life change if you stop smoking/eating junk food/playing computer games? Imagine yourself free from a bad habit. What are you like? Handsome, slim, fit… and with a completed diploma. That is, this is some other person that you are going to become.

The algorithm of the “wave” technique

After preliminary preparations, you can proceed directly to the procedure. Note in advance that doing it alone is not enough to get rid of a habit formed over the years. Therefore, tune in to regular work for at least a month.

Define the visual key

This is the very image of a bad habit: you are with a cigarette in your hand, with a bag full of sodium glutamate food, or in the process of destroying screen zombies or whoever else. This image must be associated. That is, not a look from the outside, but a first-person picture (a hand with a cigarette, with food, a mouse, or a joystick in your hand).

Create an image of the desired state

Here you need to follow some rules. This image should:

  • reflect abilities and qualities, not just behavior;
  • to allow behaving in a new way;
  • to be dissociated (an outside view);
  • have a blurry background;

You need to imagine a person who, in principle, is not subject to a bad habit that bothers you. It is important to visually form an image that will cause exactly this impression.

For example, it may be a sportsman who will not even think of taking up a cigarette. Or a caring mother of a family who loves cooking and in no case does not allow the appearance of harmful food in the house. Or a busy creator of a new IT project. He does not waste time on games, because there are so many interesting tasks ahead.

What are all these people doing? They swim in the pool and work out in the gym, choose healthy products in the store and master a new recipe, hold meetings and plan tomorrow’s affairs. This is an approximate list, you may have something of your own.

Replace the key image with a new one

This is the most interesting thing. You can imagine a smartphone or projector screen in front of your eyes, on which you move the old image with a wave, and a new image appears in front of you.

Or you can imagine that they are both in front of your eyes, but you scale the key one so that it disappears from the field of view altogether, and increase the new, desired one to the limits of your inner screen.

There are many presentation options, and you should not limit yourself to the ones offered here. The main thing is that you have an image in front of you that does not allow bad habits.

Imagine several situations from your intended future. Does nothing bother you in this new image? Is there a feeling of discomfort? If it appears, then the image does not suit you, and you need to look for something else.

Such a creative approach will save you from having to conduct a bloodbath with yourself. After all, a new image of “I”, if it is chosen by your true desires, will attract your subconscious mind like a new book or an interesting movie.
