Neymar strengthens the Mbappé plan

The renewal of Neymar with PSG until 2025 strengthens the plan that Real Madrid has to sign Mbappé next summer. The French star has fulfilled his part, that of rejecting all the offers to extend his contract that have been sent to him from the offices of the Parisian club. It ends in 2022 and this summer is the last opportunity for PSG to sell him before he leaves for free at the end of his relationship.

Guaranteeing Neymar's continuity causes PSG to be more open to listening to offers for Mbappé, since losing their two great stars in the same summer was a scenario they didn't even contemplate. The Brazilian guarantees the viability of the project, both in sports and in the media.

The negotiation, however, will be tough. At PSG they are aware that they have very difficult to convince Mbappé, because they have been trying for many months, but they will pressure him to exhaust his options to remain in the French capital. Leonardo's position not so long ago was to take the ordeal to the extreme, to the point of letting him go free in 2022 rather than accepting an offer. However, the salary cap and the economic blow caused by the pandemic force Parisians to listen to offers if they want to look for a substitute for guarantees.

Madrid, for its part, is patient. White leaders know that the path of hostility is the worst possible, since in the past PSG have shown that they are inflexible under pressure (Rabiot, Verratti, Cavani…). Therefore, at the Bernabéu they will not move until they know that the Parisians are willing to sit down and talk to put a price on Mbappé. A possibility that gains strength after the renewal of Neymar …
