Nadal trains with Wawrinka at the Foro Italico in Rome

Rafa Nadal has already trained for the first time this Thursday on the clay courts of the Foro Italico site, where he will participate in a 1000 Masters in Rome to be held behind closed doors from September 14 to 21 and where Nadal will return to the competition almost seven months after having won the title in the Acapulco tournament.

Nadal uploaded to Instagram a photo of one of his knees during a break on one of the tracks of the Foro Italico. “Here we are … eccoci … Here we are!” The Balearic wrote on his social networks along with the hashtags #Roma #Italia #ItalianOpen and #backtocompetition (back to competition).

The Roman tournament also welcomed the Balearic with this message. “Found! Rafa Nadal is already here doing his first training sessions”, published the account of Internazionali BNL d'Italia on his Instagram account with a photo of the Balearic during training

Training with Wawrinka

In his first contact with the clay of Rome, Rafa Nadal trained with another of the tennis players to watch in the tournament, the Swiss Stan Wawrinka, who like Nadal gave up competing in Cincinnati and the US Open and that he has participated in several ATP Challenger Tour tournaments to pick up the pace of competition.

Eric Hechtman, coach of Venus Williams shared images of Rafa Nadal and Stan Wawrinka's training on his Instagram stories on the clay of Rome, which was also witnessed by some of the journalists accredited in the tournament.

Muguruza is also in Rome

Garbiñe Muguruza is also in Rome, who will seek to recover sensations on the clay of the Italian capital after her elimination in the second round against the Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova.

Muguruza wants to shine at the Foro Italico, where he reached the semifinals in 2016 and 2017 and where last year he had to leave due to injury during his round of 16 match against Victoria Azarenka.
