Mourinho longs for Reguilón

Tottenham have lost their last three league games, precisely the same ones that Sergio Reguilón has been absent. The Real Madrid youth squad suffered a muscle injury that will keep him out for three weeks (He still has seven to ten days left) and his team has accused him excessively.

His place on the pitch has been taken by Davies, a winger who is strong in defense but who does not approach the performance of the Spanish international in attack. In fact, Mourinho himself claimed it in the press conference after the defeat against Chelsea, when they asked about the poor offensive performance of his team: “Reguilón means something for our offensive football … Kane means something for our offensive football… Lo Celso also means something ”, the Portuguese explained.

Spurs have lost consecutively to Liverpool (1-3), Brighton (1-0) and Chelsea (0-1). Three defeats, two of them in his own stadium, which have taken him away from the privileged positions in the classification that they had occupied for a good part of the season: now they are eighth to seven points in the Champions League.

Reguilón's adaptation to the Premier has been immediate. In a few months he became a fundamental pillar for Mourinho: he has played 20 games in which he has distributed five assists. For this reason, his withdrawal has been accused by the London team and the Portuguese coach is already counting down the days to have his starting side again.

Eurocup

Reguilón's goal is to be ready by mid-February to return to his undisputed position in Mourinho's schemes. In addition to his obvious concern to help Londoners set course, the full-back also has his mind set on the FIFA dates of late March. It has become a fixture for Luis Enrique and Spain will then begin its journey to the World Cup in Qatar, with the first three qualifying matches. That list will be the last before the Euro Cup next summer. Reguilón knows that being in the March squad and performing again at the level he has done in recent times with La Roja would mean putting a foot and a half in the Eurocup. It would be a finishing touch to the high level offered during the last two seasons at Sevilla and Tottenham.
