The Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP team announced on Tuesday the renewal of the Spanish pilot Maverick Viales, which has extended its link two more years until the end of the 2022 World Cup.

Vials came to Yamaha three years ago from Suzuki and during this time has won six wins, nine 'poles' and 19 podiums in 55 races with the fingerboard mark. He was third in the final MotoGP ranking in 2017 and 2019 and fourth in 2018.

“I think we are on the right track if we continue to work very hard. For me it was very important to make this announcement before the next World Cup started because I am very motivated and I want to be able to concentrate completely in the 2020 season. I don't want to spend much time thinking about the future. There was no reason not to continue at Yamaha because here I feel at home, “Viales explained in a statement

For his part, the head of the team, Lin Jarvis, stressed that he sees his driver “very motivated, physically strong and ready to give the maximum and extract the best of his YZR-M1”. “His decision to renew so soon for two more years shows the strength of our mutual recognition and underlines the shared conviction that together we can compete for the world title,” he said.
